This has give me an idea for a thread wot I have just put on the chat section.
No I won't play the games that you've devised
And I won't wait to listen to your lies
Before you speak another word
I'll repeat it so I'm heard
You're running out of games to play
I don't have to live this way

Seriously, it was one of our first scenario when we go there for the first time this summer, the siege of the Motte, with firework, as you can see on the BT… I twas finally not the option we kept cause we need more preparation.

It’s possible with a lot of préparation and some little « cheat »…

Lot of preparation cause the final assault on the motte will not be very spectacular for the public, this fact is due to the place you can place the public and the place of the action, so there’s some preparation to make to resolve this point.

Little cheat for firework, caus all is wood and if it could be funny and attractive to really burn the tower, it be sure expensive to build it again… (and Saint Sylvain is not Hollywood).
We think about a lot of water preparation before using real fire, or to use factice fire… and at all produce a lot of smoke (I usually work a lot with firefighter so I’ve simple access to big smoke grenade for exercices, it could produce with right ligth work, a good effect in crepuscular condition)… All this point in reflexion for new scenari in this marvellous place.

Of course assault on the Motte need a lot of enginering work, to cross the ponds and the palissade (need work on this last one too, cause they’ve to be a litle bit secure if we want to cross them in full security).

Our last scenario in july was (brief and simple way) :

« we are in july 1066, an ambassador of Guillaume go to the neighbour of Anjou to recruit some people for the invasion of England ».

Here’s an aerial pics of the place (thanks to Google Maps) :

and a place little near the closed area (do not take care of the red line) :

here’s the gps reference (enter them in the search box in Google maps to have a larger view of the place : 47.519005, -0.460943

Hi Berhthramm

Am seriously impressed by your pictures

As Nigel has said, if you and your troops fancy coming over to Dover at the end of July / beginning of August, please give it some thought.

The link Nigel provided gives a small idea of what has been done at Dover - this is the TV documentary showing what was done:
